cancel my wordpress hosting or reuse

i have canceled my old domain names and deleted stuff on my website hosted by word press.question is do i need to cancel my wordpress account and start my new business domain name and website with a new wordpress account or is there some way to erase everything old and just build a new website using my existing account

  • Hi @dancar948, if you want to use the same name again here, and just have the information erased, I’d recommend against cancelling anything. If you wanted to host your site elsewhere, deleting it would make sense.

Can you clarify what you have in mind?

Hi. Well at this point I guess I want to cancel it. I went on Go Daddy and bought a new domain name and when I was on there I set up a new WordPress account because I didn’t know what to do when I didn’t want to wait so at this point I would like to delete or cancel that old account that was under Puget Sound floors.com. My new domain name with the new word press is all you need construction and flooring. How will I go about deleting that old word press website And hosting

Okay, just to clarify, what you set up at GoDaddy isn’t a WordPress account – nothing like that actually exists, as WordPress is just the name of a piece of software.

What you set up there is an admin user account for a specific WordPress site. That account can only be used to log into that one single site, and nowhere else, and has nothing at all to do with your WordPress.com username account you have with us. The admin user account for a particular WordPress site can only be used for that one site, as such sites have no intrinsic link to one another, but you can set up admin user accounts on other sites using the same username, email address and even password (though the latter isn’t recommended :) ).

WordPress.com is a hosting provider for the open source WordPress software, like GoDaddy, but with us your account is for the platform, not for individual sites, as we use a modified version of that software over here. So on WordPress.com you could manage multiple sites using a single account. On GoDaddy you’ll be using the original open source version, and accounts on that version are per-site.

at this point I would like to delete or cancel that old account that was under Puget Sound floors.com.

Do you perhaps mean pugetsoundfloors.com? Domains cannot contain spaces.

That domain shows as registered and hosted at GoDaddy.com, and has never been connected to WordPress.com. So if you want to cancel that domain, or any site at it, you’d need to contact GoDaddy instead for help, as we don’t have any control over that site/domain.

The dancar948 WordPress.com account you’re using to post here was only created ten hours ago, owns no sites with us, and has never bought anything from us.

So it doesn’t sound like you’ve actually used any of our services before – your old site was also made using the open source version of WordPress, at GoDaddy.

I hope that clarifies things for you, but let me know if you have any questions.

If you want to delete this WordPress.com username account you created again, you can do so from https://wordpress.com/me/account/
