Cancel transferring a Domain name – and cancelling that request
-
Hi, I thought I could transfer a domain name for free: wetoobb.org.uk.
It costs and I therefore want to cancel the transfer. However, I now keep getting asked to pay now? Surely the domain name isnt transferred unless you pay?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Click on the notice telling you to complete your purchase, and once you’re on the checkout page, click the trash icon next to the items in the cart to remove them from the cart and cancel the purchase.

Using your own domain with a WordPress.com site requires a paid plan.
Additionally, a domain transfer costs us money, equal to one year’s registration of the domain, as the domain is also renewed during this process. But we don’t charge you that fee for the domain transfer, as the plan includes one free domain for the first year. From the second year we’ll charge you the domain’s renewal fee in addition to the plan.
That said, .uk domains, including .org.uk and .co.uk, cannot be transferred to WordPress.com at all, as indicated at https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/#which-tlds-extensions-can-i-transfer-to-wordpress-com
If you want to use that domain with a WordPress.com site, you’ll need to leave it registered at your current registrar, and connect it here using domain mapping instead:
