Canceled transfer request

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I recently canceled a transfer request for the domain name http://www.tendressersonquotidien.com. I bought it from Blogger and I no longer have access to it. Could you let me know if I can access it again, please?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there,

You canceled the domain within 5 days of registering it, so it should be available again soon. Once a domain name is deleted by the registry at this stage, it is immediately available for registration by any registrant through any Registrar, and that happens shortly after the 5 day grace period.

We can immediately restore the domain for you within that 5 day period, but after that we no longer have control over it. So, depending on where you want to register the domain (with us or elsewhere), you should decide ASAP on how you want it re-registered. You can always point the domain over to your host from WordPress.com until 60 days of registration hits (where you can transfer the domain anywhere you please). That will at least guarantee you will get it back without any potential complications. Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hello, thanks for your answer.
I would like to use the domain ASAP using WordPress but hosting my website on OVH.com. What do you recommend for that ?

  • Hello there,

Ok, so we can restore the domain here at WordPress.com for you – would you like to proceed with this?

If yes, please do respond to a separate email sent to you.

Once restored, you would need to apply custom DNS settings to the domain, to point to OVH.

OVH should supply these for you.

Please do check any spam inboxes or promotional tabs in the inbox.

    Many thanks in advance.

I received the email, so now I can buy the hosting on OVH and chose the option to enter the authentification code later for the domain ? When I’ll buy the domain I will get help for DNS settings right ?

Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english.

  • You now own the domain and can use it with any site. If you decide to host with OVH, you’ll want to ask them for the nameservers to point your domain to.

Once you have those, you’ll want to follow these steps:

    https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/.

We can also help you with that, if you have any trouble, just reply to the email my colleague sent you earlier.

Ok thank you so much !

What is the delay after payment so that I can use my domain ?

I don’t have access to it for the moment, is there a dashboard where I can manage it, unlock it or get the authentification number?

  • Unknown's avatar

OK forget the former post, I found it. Sorry for that.

  • Hi thobaro,

I can confirm the tendressersonquotidien.com domain has been restored and you can start using it right away.

If you want to point the domain to OVH or any other host, the Name Servers can be edited following the instructions on this page here (in French):
    https://wordpress.com/fr/support/transferer-votre-domaine/changer-de-serveur-de-noms/

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I’ve followed the instructions but when I try to add a DNS Zone on OVH, I’ve a message telling this :
“Creating a DNS zone is only possible if you meet all of the following conditions:
The domain exists and is active
The domain’s SOA must be correctly set up in its DNS zone
No operation or order form must be in progress at OVH for this domain
This DNS zone must not already be registered with OVH”

And I can’t proceed because apparently one of these things is not good. Can you help me please ?

  • Hello there,

The DNS settings wouldn’t be changed at OVH, they would be changed here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/custom-dns/

You would need to obtain DNS settings from OVH, that can then be applied here.

    I hope this helps.

Hello, thanks for your answer. The problem is that I can’t obtain DNS Settings from OVH because of this message : “Creating a DNS zone is only possible if you meet all of the following conditions:
The domain exists and is active
The domain’s SOA must be correctly set up in its DNS zone
No operation or order form must be in progress at OVH for this domain
This DNS zone must not already be registered with OVH”

I also have an other issue, when I click on this link : https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/

My domain tendressersonquodien.com doesn’t appear… I need to do on tendressersonquotidien.wordpress.com to see it.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Hello there,

Ok many thanks for getting back to me.

Just to check the end goal here – are you looking to use your domain (registered here at WordPress) with a site hosted with OVH?

If yes, you wouldn’t be creating a DNS zone with OVH, you would have an installation with them already set up.

The domain should be manageable from this link here.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Yes the goal you mentionned is right.
I have an installation but there’s already a domain tendressersonquotidien.fr used for it, can I use the same DNS for tendressersonquotidien.com?

Yes I can manage it here. But I don’t have access to the A field, AAAA field…
Now OVH tells me to do this :
    • Insert a TXT field for the ovhcontrol.tendressersonquotidien.com domain with the value 1vqItEQ9DPm6hjE2EbgPwA
    • Point field A of your domain tendressersonquotidien.com to 145.239.37.162
    • Point field A of your domain http://www.tendressersonquotidien.com to 145.239.37.162
    • Point the AAAA field of your domain tendressersonquotidien.com to 2001: 41d0: 301 :: 30
    • Point the AAAA field of your domain http://www.tendressersonquotidien.com to 2001: 41d0: 301 :: 30

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hello there,

Ok got it and thank you for that confirmation.

So the domain tendressersonquotidien.com (registered with WordPress.com) is already pointing to OVH, they are using the OVH name servers.

    DNS18.OVH.NET
    NS18.OVH.NET

This means, the DNS settings you have mentioned, could already be in place at OVH, and if they’re not – they would be added at OVH.

I think the best next best step, would be to check with OVH that the domain set up with them is as it should be.

    I hope this helps.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes it’s pointing to OVH because I put these informations on it.

But I still have this message from OVH, explaining that the action must be done with WordPress and not on OVH :
“For the configuration to be functional, you must perform the following operations at your current service provider :

Insert a TXT field for the ovhcontrol.tendressersonquotidien.com domain with the value 1vqItEQ9DPm6hjE2EbgPwA
Point field A of your domain tendressersonquotidien.com to 145.239.37.162
Point field A of your domain http://www.tendressersonquotidien.com to 145.239.37.162
    Point the AAAA field of your domain tendressersonquotidien.com to 2001: 41d0: 301 :: 30
    Point the AAAA field of your domain http://www.tendressersonquotidien.com to 2001: 41d0: 301 :: 30”

  • You can add any type of DNS record, as explained here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/custom-dns/.

Usually, to map a domain, you would only need to add nameservers, though.
If you have any doubts about how this would work for your site in particular, as @aleone89 mentioned above, it’s best if you contacted OVH’s support team directly.
They will surely be able to advise about their service better than us.
