Canceling Premium (within 30 day period) but keeping domain
-
Howdy,
I would like to cancel my premium subscription because I’ve decided to switch my hosting and utilize wordpress.org. Meanwhile, I’d like to keep my domain name, which I acquired via the premium subscription. Is there a way I can cancel this plan but keep the domain? I do not mind purchasing/renting the domain from wordpress.com. My worry is that by canceling the plan, I’ll lose access to this domain and won’t be able to acquire it soon or at all.
So, basically, how can I cancel the premium subscription (within the 30-day period and get a refund, I believe) but keep and switch over the domain name to my host? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com Annual Plans have a 14-day refund window from the time of purchase and domains can only be refunded within the 96 hour refund window. So if you’ve passed the 96 hours for a domain refund and choose to cancel your plan, you can choose to keep the domain for the remainder of the registration period (1 year). See also here https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-a-free-domain/#what-happens-to-the-domain-if-i-cancel-my-plan
Going forward, you’d need to renew the domain annually here to keep it active regardless of where you decide to host your site. Another option would be to transfer the domain to a new registrar after the 60 days that ICANN imposes on new domain registration transfers.
Hope that helps, but post back here if you have other questions about this.

Hi timendez! As 2020testjj mentioned, you can choose whether to keep your domain when you cancel your plan. You can keep your domain registered with us even if it points to another hosting provider.
I will send you an email with additional information.
