Cancelled Domain

  Hi I cancelled my domain (metrovalleymarketing.com) in order to move to a different site. It’s been about a week now and the domain isn’t available for purchase on any other site. How long should this process take and can anyone help me make sure it has cancelled properly?

  Hi there,

  From what I can see you canceled metrovalleymarketing.com on 9/13/2022 and removed it from your account. One thing to be aware of is that domains are not released right away after they are canceled, but instead enter a redemption process that can last 60-90 days.

  At the end of that period, the domain is released (if it is not purchased at wholesale auction) and you can then purchase it from any company that sells domains to the public. More info here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period

  If you need the domain back sooner than that, the good news is that we may be able to recover your domain. Unfortunately because the domain has been returned to the registry, it is no longer under our control. Because it is currently in redemption we do have the option to call it back, but there will be a late renewal fee to do so.

  The fee to recover the domain is $80 + $18 to cover the cost of 1 yr of registration after it is recovered. Please let us know if you wish to proceed with recovery and we can send an invoice for payment and start the process.
