Cancelling Domain

    I accidentally registered a domain here rather than with a third party hosting site and building my website on wordpress.org like I meant to. So I am considering deleting my domain and hoping it renews soon so I can use it elsewhere. There is a note that the domain will be removed from my account immediately because I just registered for it 2 days ago, but there is another note at the bottom saying my domain will be removed in a year. So which one is it? Do I wait the 60 days to transfer my domain or cancel it?

    Hi there,

    I don’t recommend canceling the domain as it might not get released immediately (even though you’re within the 4-day cancelation window).

    What I suggest is keeping the domain with us for now and pointing it to your site (that’s hosted elsewhere). To do that, you only need to change its DNS settings as described in this guide:

    https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/

    Then, once the 60-day lock is removed, you can proceed with the transfer of the domain.
