Cannot access page to request invite to protected blog

    I just signed up to read a blog I follow which has recently become ‘Protected’ and requires me to have an account and ‘Permission from the site owner. Once you’ve created an account, log in and revisit this screen to request an invite.’. I have the former, but that page’s Log In button and the proceeding page’s Continue and profile buttons just link back and forth to each other’s pages; there seems to be no way to access the page to request an invite. Please help!
