Cannot add new posts

All of a sudden, when I try to add a new post I get the following message: “Oops! An error occurred while loading. That method is not allowed.” This is universally happening with all of my WordPress blogs (but, interestingly, NOT with my Edublog accounts. Help??? (email visible only to moderators and staff)

How are you trying to create a new post? What URL are you at when you are writing the post?

After logging on, I am clicking on the icon at the top of the screen to add a new post. This action takes me to a new post window, just like it normally would do – with one exception: There is a box outlined in red at the top of the screen with the message “Oops! An error occurred while loading. That method is not allowed.” When I add text and click on the link to publish, the message pops up again and does not complete the action.
Here’s what I CAN do: I discovered I can get in through the “backdoor.” I have the original wp-admin page bookmarked for some reason. I realized this allows me to add a new post, which is good. However, I don’t understand why the new post link – which has been working just fine until about a week ago – isn’t working. It’s an easier, more elegant, and much more efficient mechanism. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

This is a tricky one to track down.
This action takes me to a new post window, just like it normally would do – with one exception: There is a box outlined in red at the top of the screen with the message “Oops! An error occurred while loading. That method is not allowed.”
Can you try holding shift and clicking the circle “reload” arrow in the browser address bar and let me know if that helps?

Also, do you have any extensions installed in your browser? If so, can you try disabling them and seeing if that makes a difference?

I tried the shift+Reload, but the message pops back up with the refresh. Regarding extensions: that was one of the first things I tried, again to no avail. Frustrating!

And I hate to ask, but have you tried logging out and back in again? Or using a different browser?

All good suggestions, but yes I have logged out, shut down and restarted, and tried both my default browser (Safari) as well as Chrome. Net result: Same error. I really, really don’t want to re-image my computer, but I may wind up trying that next.

Logging into http://marksbikes.wordpress.com/ as your account, I do not see that error.I did not make a test post because I didn’t want to do that without asking you.
A question, does this happen with your other sites as well?

Yes, the same error is consistent in all of my WordPress blogs. I don’t know if it makes a difference or not, but I am NOT experiencing these issues with Edublogs.

Is there a site that you wouldn’t mind my logging as you and making a test post on? No problem if you would prefer not to do that. I’m just trying to think of ways to track down the issue and I cannot replicate it on this end.

Does this happen if you use a different internet connection with your computer (if it is a laptop)? Have you changed anything with your network or router in the past few days? Do you use a VPN or a Proxy of any sort?

I’ve got IT checking to see if any updates coincide with this problem. They, of course, insist that it couldn’t POSSIBLY be anything they added to the laptop, but then of course that’s precisely what they always say about every problem. :)
