  I have an account with GoDaddy for the domain but I am not able to connect to WordPress???

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  If you want to use a custom domain on the wordpress.com platform, you must upgrade to a paid plan – https://wordpress.com/pricing/ – together with Domain Connection – https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/connect-existing-domain/
