Cannot open ‘My Site’

  • Unknown's avatar

When I click the ‘My Site’ button, an error message of ‘Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection’ is shown and I can’t access it. I believe my website has a bug from the Woo Commerce payment plugin, but I can’t even access the recovery links that WordPress sent me via email. What can I do?

I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

  • Hi there,

I checked debug, and you are definitely receiving a 500 error:

    Debug

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts. Read more about plugin and theme conflicts in our Self-Service Guide.

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-self-service-guide/

    How to test for conflicts

The best way to determine if the issue is being caused by a theme and/or plugin is to:

    1. Temporarily switch your theme to the Storefront or Twenty Twenty theme.

    2. Try to reproduce the problem: If the problem is resolved, it is a theme conflict. If not, continue to the next step.

    3. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce. You can do this manually or use a plugin to help (see below for tools).

    4. Try to reproduce the problem again. If the problem is resolved, it is a plugin conflict. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, continue to the next step.

    5. Reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.

For more detailed instructions, check out How to test for plugin and theme conflicts.

Although your site is connected to WordPress.com via Jetpack, it is using the open-source WordPress.org software.

If you have WooCommerce installed on a WordPress.com Business Plan or have a paid WooCommerce extension on a self-hosted site you can open a ticket while logged into your account at:

    https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/

But, if your site is self-hosted and built using the WordPress.org open software, you’ll need to seek assistance from their forums which can be found at:

    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce

These forums provide support for WordPress.com hosted sites. If you want to know the difference between the two, you can find more information in this document:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your prompt reply! But the major problem I encounter is that I cannot really access “My Site” when I logged in to WordPress.com, which means that I cannot change any of the settings (including the theme) for now. I would like to ask if it is possible to ask you to delete the whole site and I can possibly rebuild one from my side?

  • Hi there,

You won’t be able to remedy that issue from the WordPress.com dashboard. You’ll need to log in to your site’s wp-admin dashboard to fix it.

Your hosting provider and the WordPress.org support forums (https://wordpress.org/support/forums/) are the only ones that can help.

Once your site’s issue is resolved you’ll be able to re-connect it to WordPress.com and continue to manage it from there.
