Cannot post comment on website using WP

  Cannot post my comment on website using WP

  I signed onto WordPress just to be able to post comments on a website which uses WP.
  Everything worked well for over a year until a few weeks ago.
  Suddenly, my comments would not post. I would sign in using WP and it would look like all was OK, then when I hit the “Post” button, a WP window would pop up saying my comment could not post.

  The website admins say I am fine on their side, but that they had other posters having this issue. I have looked all over WP trying to figure this out. I cannot find any answers.

  Hi there!

  This can happen when you have third party cookies disabled. Can you check your browser settings and make sure that you’ve enabled third party cookies?

  Here are some directions on changing your cookie settings in Firefox:

  Let me know if enabling your third party cookies allowed you to post your comments!

  Angels from heaven!! I think it worked. One last question: I disabled third party cookies because I thought it would help with protecting my computer. There is an option in there which says I can accept them “always” or “from visited” as opposed to “never”. Do you know if it would mess me up if I selected “from visited”?

  I’m not entirely familiar with the different Firefox cookies options. (I use Chrome.) I tested a little bit and it looks like “From visited” should work okay. But I’m not exactly sure how it determines if you’ve visited before, so if you need to clear your cache, cookies, and browsing history at some point it may stop working. Also, if you land on a WordPress.com site that you haven’t visited before you may see an issue.
