Cannot turn privacy off
-
I switched my blog to wordpress.org because I needed the additional functionalities. I followed all of the steps to change over my domain, but no matter what, the privacy won’t turn off so I can’t complete the transfer. I have spoken with Wild West Domains, who apparently is the company that did the domain on behalf of wordpress.com, but they told me I needed to contact wordpress.com. No response from the email that they told me to use for wp.com.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I was able to figure it out finally, thanks to Bluehost. FYI, the copy in the help section (after a very thorough read-through) says to “Cancel private Whois,” but it really should say “Cancel private registration.” Finally figured that out.
FYI, Wild West told me to email support@wordpress.com, which got me no response. It would be helpful to have everyone on the same page; this switch was extremely frustrating.

You want to transfer the registration to another Registrar?
If so this should help:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/There is a section on turning privacy off

Thanks for the response, auxclass. The copy uses incorrect wording, which is confusing. I was able to figure it out a bit ago.

Glad you figured it out – thanks for the note on the wording – I will flag this for the staff and see if they can fix the instructions
STAFF – Please see above for notes about the instructions not being clear
Thanks

STAFF – Please also see note above that Wild West Domains is telling customers to contact support@wordpress.com which garners no response.
Very frustrating.
