cannot upload images to my blog

  In the past I have uploaded .jpg or .png files to my blog at orthegonia.wordpress.com. Recently I have been unable to do this simple action: The process never completes, and does not give a specific error. The files are small (< 1Mb typically), and I have left the process running for an hour without a completed upload. I am using Opera 12.0 on Ubuntu Linux Mint 10. I realize these are not the latest and not-really-the-greatest-if-the-truth-be-told releases, however Opera 12 is the lastest version of Opera I can install on this system, and Firefox, although I can install it crashes continually, while Chrome does not install. In any case, these versions should be supported for something as simple as a file upload. Please fix it. Thank you.
