Can’t add a title/heading to some widgets
-
I’m using the Button 2 theme for my newest blog (free plan). For some widgets in my sidebar, there is no identifying title or heading to the widget itself, such as ‘Latest Posts’, ‘Categories’ or ‘Subscribe (to Blog via Email)’. When I customized my other blog, Flagstones & Fog, these headings automatically appeared in the sidebar or footer as part of each widget; furthermore, I was able to customize what each heading said. (As an example, on http://www.flagstonesfog.wordpress.com , ‘What Shall We Read Today?’ is the Categories widget; ‘In the Vaults’ is the Archives widget.) On Tarot, Tea & Thyme, it would be nice if my list of latest posts, for example, were titled as such; otherwise, readers may not realize what they are and just skip over them. I’d really appreciate any help or advice on this, please. (Hope my question makes sense.) Thank you very much.

Hi @gillygoodmoon, try using the legacy widgets so they match your theme.
Then with any widgets you weren’t able to use from legacy, try using a Heading block with each untitled widget, then grouping them together:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/group-block/#grouping-existing-blocksYou can also use the “list view” icon (you can see an image of that in that article) to select each set of blocks and group them that way.
Let us know if you need more help.

Hi again. I did get there eventually, by more or less the same method as you refer to here, I think. Once the widget was added as a block, I transformed it to a Widget Group (by clicking on the widget’s symbol/name in its “customization box”). That allowed me to add a custom title or heading to each widget, and they automatically matched my theme, too!
Thank you very much for your response and suggestions.
