can't add photos, nothing works in the new editor!

cannot access my photo library. cannot drag/drop new files from my computer to photo library. pages often unresponsive, even though other webpages work, can’t add photo or photos to a post. Since this is a blog with photos, what is the point of having it if i no longer can do these things? have old computer but should i be completely shut out if i can’t make the ‘new’ editor work for me? can i use the ‘old’ editor and shouldn’t that be easy to access for us poor luddites who can’t afford the newest and latest computers, portable devices, and apps? Please help me. i don’t want to have to go back to blogger!

my computer is so old and i cannot update to newer versions of any of the browsers as they are unsupported. that is part of the problem – functionally obsolete computer and poverty. my imac is from 2006; my browser safari is 5.1.1.0 and my OS 10 snow leopard is so old i can’t get updates for that or chrome, and ff crashes my computer.i made a document of all the good information and instructions you sent me so that i have that info on my hard drive. Thank you so much for taking the time with thorough instructions and suggestions – I really appreciate that, and will work through them.
i did get things to work on the platform of wordpress i have – not even sure which version i do have, but it was trial and error. i finally found some support tutorials but even they did not help until i found the ones for inserting media. hoping that solved it for now. i can write how i figured that out if you want, in case there are other people with ancient computers that need a workaround.
all i did was go to my blog, hover the mouse on “my site” and then choose WP Admin, which allowed me to choose “media” and either upload from library or add media. Everything worked! i guess this is all solved for now, but I do have one big question I’d like answered, just in case:can i go back to an older platform of wordpress if what i did, doesn’t keep working?
