Can't connect to WordPress.com
-
I’ve tried (several times over several months) to connect my JetPack to my account on WordPress.com. It just won’t do it. I’m not hosted on GoDaddy nor am I running the offending plugin.

Sure. “Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [HTTP 412]. If you are hosted with Go Daddy, they are aware of this issue, and we at WordPress.com are working with them to fix it. If your site is hosted elsewhere, please contact Jetpack Support: http://jetpack.me/support/”

It looks like your hosting provider is blocking the xmlrpc.php file, which is what we use to communicate.
I recommend asking them to unblock this file.

It had permission 644 like some of the wp files. I changed it to 664 (like the other wp files) and see no difference. I get the same error.
I’ll open a ticket.

It’s not file permissions, I think your provider is actually blocking traffic to the file itself.

Yes, you are correct.
I opened a ticket and was quickly given a code to allow this to work. They have it blocked by default for security reasons.
All good!
Thank YOU!
