Can’t Delete Navigation Block

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi all, I can’t seem to be able to delete the navigation block at the absolute top of my home page. I have one below on the page, which is where I want it. In “Appearance-Editor”, I click the ‘List View” icon in the upper left corner, but in the list, it starts with the “paragraph” below the title. I want to delete that whole area (if you go to the homepage, you’ll see, I want to delete everything above the “centered” “sound 4 sale” in pink), including the “sign in” icon, which I have not been able to delete either. Thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The reason that top navigation area and ‘Sign In’ icon aren’t showing up in your homepage’s List View is because they are housed inside a global Header Template Part. To edit or delete this area completely, go to Appearance > Editor, select Patterns, and look under the Template Parts section to click on your Header. Once you open the Header template part directly, you will see its independent List View where you can select and delete the rogue Navigation block and ‘Sign In’ icon. Alternatively, if you want to remove that entire top strip from the homepage altogether, open your homepage template in the Editor, look at the very top of the List View for a block simply named Header, click the three dots next to it, and select Delete to instantly remove everything above your centered pink title!

  • Hi @y8ycpqj4h5,

It looks like @james3265166 is correct here. The navigation area and the “Sign In” icon are likely coming from your site’s Header template part, which is separate from the content of the homepage itself.

You can edit it by going to: Appearance → Editor → Patterns → All template parts → Header

From there, open the Header template part and use List View to select and remove the unwanted Navigation block or Sign In/Login block.

If you want to remove the entire top header only from the homepage, open the homepage template instead and remove the Header block from that template.
