can’t easily type a blog

Has WP had an upgrade or something? I cannot write my blogs anymore. I click on ‘write’ and the blank page comes up with a circle with a cross inside, I cannot type like before. I click on the circle and up comes this page with many options e.g. paragraphs, blocks etc. I click on paragraphs, and I can sometimes start typing, when i finish a paragraph and start another, I cannot see what I am typing !!!!!! Can I go back to ‘simple please ???

What you’re seeing is the default WordPress editor which was introduced when WordPress 5.0 was released in December last year. If it’s active on your site it’s because you switched to it sometime in the last year, because it is not enabled automatically for any WordPress.com sites that existed prior to December 2018.
If you want to switch back to the classic editor, click the three dots top-right in the editor, and at the bottom of the menu that appears you’ll see the option to Switch to Classic.
