Can't get free version of Hero to look anything like the demo

Sorry if I’m wasting people’s time here. I will try to be as succinct as possible.

I’m a noob, with WordPress skills 1 out of 10.

As you can see, with my site, the title and page buttons are below the header photo, and in the demo of Hero, the page buttons, and site name are above. I would like to have mine above.

Also, mine appears really as one big giant page, that seems to scroll past contacts, to about, to testimonials. I would like them to each be on its own page.

Also, I tried to upload another photo-I would eventually like to have a whole gallery of them-the image showed up rotated 90 degrees, and the ‘rotate’ buttons were greyed out, meaning they would not let me right the photo.

That’s all for now, and then I’d like some help with a few more advanced features once I’ve got this figured.

And remember, no jargon or you’ll lose me right away. Plain English please.

    Thank you for your time.

Ah, the configurable themes. Someone will have a profitable business one day simply charging $20 for instructions to make it look like the demo. Until then I suggest you read the details of that theme http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/hero/ and in the Themes forum, look at the threads tagged Hero.

You might wish to start with a simpler theme, with no featured posts or images.

    Thank you.

It seems there is a major flaw here. The button to ‘activate’ is at the top, but as soon as you do that, you bypass all the information below, and so a newbie like me activates, and then gets frustrated.

I will let you know how it works out, now that I know where to look for information.

    Cheers
    Keith
