Can't get Music Player widget to work in sidebar

    I have a premium account w/ 32 gigs of space. I uploaded 11 mp3 files. I go to the Music Player widget and I have tried both options, the shortcode and the choose files. When I try the shortcode – as demonstrated here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/ the only thing that shows up is the title of the widget. When I use the choose files option, I tic the checkboxes and then click on the Insert Playlist into post button and It takes me to a blank page with no options (…/media-upload.php?tab=playlist&post_id=0).

    I have read and re-read the instructions until I’m blue in the face. I have searched the forums with no helpful solution. I can’t even find a wordpress.com blog with a working Music Player widget in a sidebar. I am beginning to think that the widget does not work at all and should be removed from the list of available widgets.

    ADDENDUM: The shortcode I am trying to use looks like this…

    [playlist tracks="1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11"]

    I figure since I have 11 mp3 files, I simply list them all. I have tried variations, such as just listing one or a couple but no success. I figure that since the example short code looks like this: [playlist tracks="32,10"] that it is saying play tracks # 32 and #10. Am I reading this wrong? If I am, then there should be a better explanation of the shortcode given on the audio instruction page.

    Hi there,

    I just tested the Music Player widget, and I can confirm that it’s working for me. I’d be happy to help you get it up and running on your blog!

    First, can you let me know if you have Accessibility Mode enabled on your Widgets page? You can check this by going to Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard, and then clicking on the Screen Options tab in the upper right. We have some reports of problems with the “Choose songs” link for the Music Player widget in Accessibility Mode, but if you disable that mode it should work as expected.

    The “Choose songs” link will generate the playlist shortcode for you, but you can also insert that shortcode yourself if you are having trouble choosing the songs you want to use. In that case, the numbers you need for the shortcode are the attachment IDs for each song you want in your playlist.

    To find the attachment ID for a song, you can go to Media > Library in your dashboard. Find the song you want, hover over the title, and then click the Edit link that appears. On the Edit Media page, under the file name, you will see a permalink that looks something like this:

    Permalink: http://yourblognamehere.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=1234

    You will need to copy the number at the end of the link (1234 in the link above) and use that in the shortcode.

    It sure would have been nice to have found the first tip you gave about the Accessibility Mode in the Audio help file.

    I notice the Music Player limits the number of selections allowed, but at least – with your wonderful help – it is now working for me.

    Thanks for your feedback! We’re working to fix the Music Player so the “Choose songs” link works in accessibility mode, too, but in the meantime I added that tip to the Audio support page. :)
