Can't install wordpress(.ORG)!

    Hi all.

    I purchased a domain, and set up a web host in order for me to be able to install more customisable themes onto my blog (wordpress.com didn’t allow this while .org does). Apparently the ‘add new’ theme option is only available when your site is self hosted, which mine now is by GatorHost.

    Whether it be through gatorhost, MAMP etc, I can’t get wordpress.org to install properly. I have tried (for hours, and hours) quick install, installing manually, but neither of these get me the .org, it’s still .com.

    I just want to give up and use Wix or something but I’m not going to run away from my problem!

    Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated!!!!!! THank you

    First of all, you should post your question in the support forums for self-hosted sites. You’ll find that here: https://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username there, you’ll need to register one.

    Hosted WPcom (where we are) and standalone WP are two separate entities. For an explanation of the differences: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If you are looking to use your custom domain on your self-hosted site, you’ll need to change the DNS pointers at your domain registrar to point to your new self-hosted site. Your web host should be able to help you there with the DNS pointers you need.
