Can’t log into wordpress

    Hello,

    I set up a wedding website, laurenandchadswedding.com, a few weeks ago. When I go to log in it says my password is incorrect. When I click the ‘forgot password’ button I do not receive an email to reset my password. I’ve waited and retried and have yet to receive a password reset email. Can you please help with resetting my password? Thank you.

    Hi there,

    We can’t help directly because we don’t host laurenandchadswedding.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.

    Instead your host (Hostgator) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. Specifically we use a custom login system on WordPress.com (for enhanced security) and because of this our procedures for regaining account access do not work on sites hosted with other providers.

    The good news is that as long as you have access to the server control panel through Hostgator, it is always possible to regain access to your self-hosted WordPress site. This WordPress.org support article will walk you through it: https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/

    You can ask Hostgator support for direct assistance in completing the steps in that article; they would be in the best position to help.
