Can’t login to site: jetpack won’t recognize me in any way?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have an account (account#1) with WordPress with a site (Site#1) on it. However, I also had a separate site (site#2) that was established separately as WordPress website, and never connected to account#1. I always simply accessed site#2 via http://www.site#2/wp-admin/. Now site#2 won’t accept my credentials for login in directly, it won’t recognize any of my emails for lost password, and it won’t link to my account#1 WordPress account. . It keeps saying something about JetPack, which is all new to me (admittedly, I haven’t logged into this site#2 in years). But I can’t get into site#2 at all. Any suggestions?

  • Hi @alpinemctrout, if you’re willing to share a link to the site, that will help us find it. If you’re worried about sharing it publicly, disguise it as an email address:

(email visible only to moderators and staff) will be hidden from everyone but staff.

In fact, knowing both site addresses would help in this case.

Thanks for the response. The two sites are: (email visible only to moderators and staff) (which I can’t get into) and ignore@rentrofadventureclub (which is the site linked to my WordPress username alpinemctrout

  • Those are email addresses. What are the site’s URLs?

The two sites are: rentrof.wordpress.com (which I can get into with with my username) and customcontractbrewing.com (which I can’t get into no matter what I do).

  • Okay, rentrof.wordpress.com is the only site in this account.

http://www.customcontractbrewing.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress site. The login details for your admin account on that site has nothing to do with either WordPress.com or Jetpack, but are stored in your site’s database on your hosting provider’s servers. If that’s what you’re trying to access, you can find the password reset instructions for your version of WordPress here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/

That site is also connected to a WordPress.com account via Jetpack, but that’s a completely different account than the alpinemctrout one you’re using to post here. So you’d need to log out of this account, and log into the other account to access this site via Jetpack.

Thank you. It looks like a designer connected the site to her JetPack without telling me, and that locked me out. Appreciate you all helping me sleuth.
