Can’t maintain a website’s original URL.
-
I’ve been paying the annual fees to maintain the ResponsibleHarvard.com website, for a few years, forwarding the amounts for upkeep and domain registration to the person who set up and still administers the site. Since the beginning of 2018, the domain registration process has been a huge hassle. Both of us communicated with WordPress customer-service people last year over several days’ time to make it happen (another issue was that the fees had increased dramatically, but there was a legacy-site deal where in fact approximately the original fee could continue to be in effect). Once again, the URL has converted to: https://responsibleatharvard.wordpress.com/. Neither of us has been able to figure out what to do to get this fixed. The administrator has given up on it. The website and the group’s name are no longer able to be found with searches. We can’t straighten it out through GoDaddy, which hosted the simpler URL. I cannot believe that the many users in such circumstances are all being put through this kind of very problematic difficulty.

Thanks very much! I’ve passed that on to the administrator, and hope he can make progress by following your advice
