Hello, when I try to modify CNAME, the site says ‘Handled by WordPress.com’ and I can’t modify it to point the domain to another site. Can you help?

Hello again, I tried creating a new DNS record and added www in the host box.
I added the alias but I got “invalid target host”.
I’m trying to point my WordPress bought domain to a site created in Google sites.
Thanks -
Hi,
Just to clarify, you are trying to change DNS for the domain
alexandragarcia.fr, correct? If so, are you following these instructions:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/custom-dns/
This may also be helpful if you have the option to use nameservers:
https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/
Take a look and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

Yes, that’s right. I don’t know the name servers for Google sites unfortunately.
I have been trying to follow the instructions from my Google site to modify the DNS CNAME settings but I can only create a new CNAME which doesn’t work. The alias is supposed to be:
ghs.googlehosted.com.Thanks

You need to follow the steps here to add a new CNAME record to your domain:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/custom-dns/#adding-custom-dns-records
You would make those changes here by expanding the DNS records and click “manage” – this is not something Staff can do for you:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/alexandragarcia.fr/edit/alexandragarciafr.wordpress.com
Once you add a new CNAME record, it can take up to 48 hours for the change to propagate across the internet. You can use a site like https://www.whatsmydns.net/ to monitor that status.
I hope that clarifies things! Let us know if you still have trouble.

Hello, I’m still having trouble. I created a new CNAME record but it would not accept my redirect to ghs.googlehosted.com. It accepts it without the period at the end but the redirect doesn’t work. When I put the final period, it gives me the error: invalid target host

The CNAME record is properly configured, and your Google-hosted site loads when I open your URL. You can see that on the following screenshot:
As you can see, since you have defined the www version of your URL to redirect to that site, you have to include that when you type it (www.alexandragarcia.fr). This is what CNAME records are used for. To properly point your domain to your Google site, you must use their nameservers or A records.
