can't publish an existing Word document via the Word blog post feature

  I have an existing Word document I want to send as a post. I have followed everything I know how to to do this: registered my new blog; made sure the Word document is Word 2007/docx. But when I click publish and supply log on credentials, message from Word is: Can’t publish the post.
