Can't see my posts please help

    Hi guys,

tried to edit my selecta theme to make it look like the selecta demo on the themes page – one big image, slideshow, thumbnails etc.

All I wanted was full screen or one column!

Please help me to achieve this – blog is http://quillviralvids.wordpress.com/

PS for those of us who are not easily able to figure these things out if only there was an activate theme button that made your blog look like the demo page on themes instead of always with an unwanted sidebar! I have no clue how to get my selecta looking like the demo!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

You can find additional instructions for setting up your theme like the theme demo on the Selecta theme page here: https://wordpress.com/themes/selecta/

Here’s how to get that featured post slider (slideshow) at the top of your blog:

Turn it on in Appearance → Theme Options. After you enable the slider, it will appear at the top of your front page once you mark at least two posts as sticky. If you have just one sticky post, that post will stand on its own at the top of the page.

If you have any other questions about how to get that working, just let me know. :)

    Hi Rachel,

thank you but when I tried that option, my posts simply disappeared from view. No slider; no screen; dashboard showed my posts existed but none of them were even displaying on home page.

also when I pull down the ‘screen options’ in dashboard to try to get to a single column, it’s just not there.

    any advice?

How can I lose the sidebar and make my page look like the demo

Hm, that’s odd — your posts shouldn’t just disappear like that. I see that you’ve turned the featured post slider off again. Would you mind turning it on (or would you mind if I go ahead and turn it on) so I can take a look at what happens? That will help me figure out why the slider isn’t showing up correctly for you.

oK will do now thank you

did it so now as you can see there is just one featured post, nothing is sliding and no thumbnails of the other posts. all posts are set to sticky. I would just like it to appear as it does in the demo, one at the top, several smaller windows below… be so grateful if you can show where I’m going wrong

    Hi there,

I took a look at your site, and from what I can see the slider is working the way it should. Your five sticky posts are in the slider, and you can click the titles to the right of the slider to flip through those sticky posts.

To enable the “Latest post” thumbnails, you can go to Appearance > Theme Options in the blog’s dashboard and next to “Show Latest Posts row on the front page” select Yes. That will add the row of thumbnails below the slider.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

    thanks for your patience rachel,

I can now see the headlines for the videos in a row but not the actual video thumbnails. Perhaps I need to clear my cache or something. do you see them?

The theme doesn’t actually grab the video thumbnail for those latest posts — you’ll need to add a featured image to your posts for that. The theme will then display each post’s featured image above the post title there.

Let me know how that goes! :)
