Can't upload Ad.tx
-
Hi —
I downloaded a WP file management widget but it would not allow me to upload an Ad.tx file so I deleted it, then upgraded to a PRO version but that one won’t load because it keeps saying “file pathway” already exists.
All I want to do is upload an Ad.tx file to my site; any ideas? I even downloaded the upgraded file management widget but that one won’t let me activate it.
Thanks.

Hi there,
File manager plugins cannot be used to modify your site’s files directly on WordPress.com, and it’s not possible to upload any files directly to your site either. For that functionality you’d need to use the self-hosted version of WordPress rather than WordPress.com.
What ad service are you trying to add? Please keep in mind that your Business Plan site comes with our own WordAds ad service built in. WordAds serves ads from mutliple ad networks, including Google Adsense, and activating an additional ads service on your site on top of WordAds can actually lead to you making less money from ads on both services combined, than if you only used WordAds.
If you contact live chat support at https://wordpress.com/help/contact they might be able to help you, depending on what exactly you want to add, but as a rule we don’t recommend running multiple ad services on a site.

Thanks. I am contractually bound at this point so I have to run additional ads.
“Self-hosted” — as in, on my own servers?

Self-hosted just means you’re running your own self-maintained copy of WordPress. You could still buy hosting from another provider without having to maintain a server as well. I think we have a few recommendations here: https://get.wp.com
When you say you’re bound to run additional ads, you do mean you’re bound to run multiple networks including WordAds? I found you can modify your ads.txt with a plugin, but it will stop WordAds from working. Since WordAds already gets bids from multiple networks, that may work better for you.
