can’t upload any images- they all come out broken

  Hi there, I’m new to wordpress and am having a lot of difficulty getting any images to upload. I am trying to add images to pages as well as upload a new image to my header banner. Every time I upload an image (jpeg), it uploads immediately as a broken image. I’ve done a considerable amount of googling and haven’t found a solution. Thank you!
