Hi –
Which site are you trying to use the app on? If it is a self hosted WordPress.org site then you need to have the Jetpack plugin installed.
-
i’m using my website loitterforsanity.home.blog hosted in wordpress domain not self hosted I can login and use regularly on my pc browser but can’t use the desktop app even the updated version shows the same problem.

Hi there,
Thank you for reporting. This is a known issue that we are currently working on:
https://github.com/Automattic/wp-desktop/issues/700#issuecomment-613118934
In the meantime, here is a workaround that has worked for some:

We will notify you once a fix is in place.

Thank you, after clearing residual files in windows user file previous error has not been shown but when i try to login new error “The request to public-api.wordpress.com failed (code ECONNRESET), please check your internet connection and try again” is being prompted even when i add wordpress.com app to widows defender ransomware protection. The previous error started appear as i recall after i give okay to update app via in-app notification. Thank you for your effort.

I see another report in that GitHub issue also mentions this ECONNRESET error, so it looks like it’s related.
At this point I’m afraid we’ll need to wait and see if one of our developers can provide more information on this on that issue.

I have uninstalled 5.0.1 and installed 5.0.0 on only for me setting now i can use the app login regularly Thank you for the effort
