captions not showing anymore

hello, i always use the “tiled gallery” whenever i post, and i noticed captions are no longer showing under pictures. can someone please explain what’s going on? it’s really annoying. i tried adding text under “caption”, “description, alt text, even title, nothing shows.

Hi @elliottsmithgallery! This is a known behavior with captions in WordPress. Adding a caption in the Media Library (title, caption, description fields) only applies automatically to newly inserted images; it won’t update captions on images you’ve already added to your posts.
To add captions to images already in your Tiled Gallery, you’ll need to do it directly in the editor: click on an image in the gallery, then click Edit gallery, select the image you want, and add the caption there. Full steps at wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/tiled-gallery-block/

thanks for your help, but obviously, the issue is bigger than what you describe, because i encountered it with a new post, and therefore newly inserted images, and i did use the editor directly. so where does that leave us? it’s a recent problem. is there a way to fix it?
