Categories are not being saved when post is published

    When i publish a post the category I assigned to it doesnt save, at first it goes to uncategorized, then I unselect that, select the correct category again and save, then it just has no category, not even uncategorized

    I downloaded the health and troubleshooting plugin, i deactivated all plugins and the problem persists. its also happening on my 2 other sites, which i tried doing the same thing and nothing worked.

    is this a new wordpress issue that everyones dealing with? i suspect not cuz i cant find any recent posts about it, but its strange its happening on 3 accounts even after i deactivated the plugins, and tried different themes and all that.

    any help would be greatly appreciated, my site relies on categories heavily
