Change Admin Address
-
Hi Everyone,
What I’m looking to do is change the URL of my site admin.
The thing is I created my site with one domain and so the site admin was named after that. However, I have since changed my primary domain and wish the site admin to also be changed to be consistent with it.
I should say that at the current time I’m on a very basic package and so don’t have access to the CSS, but can upgrade to have access to it if required.
I just want the first part of my admin URL to be the same as my site URL.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The thing is I created my site with one domain
And, the URL of the underlying .wordpress.COM blog was ______________? And the the username account that registered that blog is ______________?
I have since changed my primary domain
What are all of the URLs involved here please?

Okay, I created it with highlandunitarian.com
The primary domain is now shininginthedarkness.com
But of course the admin address is still names after the first. I’d like it to be named after the second in the same way instead.

Here’s my dilemma. This is the wordpress.COM support forum. We provide support only for blogs hosted by WordPress.COm and no others.
Here we register .wordpress.com blogs and then we can purchase domain mapping from those underlying .wordpress.com blogs to domain URLs.
I do not see any underlying .wordpress.com blog URLs up there.
re: http://highlandunitarian.com
Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same WordPress.COM username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and purchased the domain mapping upgrade for it to renew the upgrade.
re: http://shininginthedarkness.com/
Hold Your Horses!
It can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at shininginthedarkness.com, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again.

Congratulations! The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for shininginthedarkness.com.Primary Blog is Set
shininginthedarkness.com is set as the primary domain for highlandunitarian.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.As this appears to be a somewhat confused situation because there are no underlying .wordpress.com URLs provided, I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Thanks. I’m highly confused. I went to another wordpress forum and they told me to come here.
I’ll wait for a response. Thanks again.

Don’t worry as Staff will assist as soon as they can. Don’t post here until they do because doing that will move the timestamp forward and it will take longer to get their help.

Hi David,
Right now, you have the domain shininginthedarkness.com and it’s linked to an underlying WordPress.com address highlandunitarian.wordpress.com. That underlying address is what you see in the site’s admin area.
You can change that underlying site address by heading to your My Blogs screen in the admin area here:
https://highlandunitarian.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs
You can hover over the address and click on “Change Blog Address” to start the process. That will allow you to change that address without making any changes to the custom domain shininginthedarkness.com that you’re using on the site.
I want to mention that the address shininginthedarkness.wordpress.com is already taken, so you won’t be able to use that specific address for your site, but you can choose another address that’s at least more similar to your current domain.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thank you so much. That worked perfectly. I was anticipating a whole lot of work. It’s a shame that shininginthedarkness was taken but I just used my name instead.
Thanks again!
