change DNS

  • Unknown's avatar

My domain URL appears as http://69.195.124.167/~jurajbor/. At bluehost support told me it’s beacuese DNS settings and adviced me to request a change of DNS at yours.

this is a message from bluehost to me: If you’d like to change the DNS and point them to us, you’ll need to contact the REGISTRAR and request to change the DNS, they will ask you what they are, and you tell them:
    NS1.BLUEHOST.COM
    NS2.BLUEHOST.COM

In this form i am unable to change the Blog URL, i am about to change DNS for jurajborko.com not jurkoborko.wordpress.com

    Thanks
    Juraj

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You can point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), with these steps:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

I hope this helps – let me know if you have any more questions!

    Thanks rootjosh!

I am pretty new into this so I am trying to find a way out by reading forums.
    I appreciate your help.

    1) I followed the steps you linked and got successfully at the end ,but it didn’t take any effect afterwards.
    2) Also i have modified URL inside phpMyAdmin (on MAMP) changing URL to http://jurajborko.com

Should I give it couple of workdays to take change, or is there anything i still can do?

When i type http://www.jurajborko.com into browser it still shows me up the WordPress.com blog. I already transferred my domain to Bluehost hosting, so why does it show this?

At Bluehost still appears it as http://69.195.124.167/~jurajbor/..

  • Happy to help!

FWIW, I am seeing http://jurajborko.com/ point correctly to your Bluehost site.

It can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency.

Also, do let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

    Well done..but still,
When browsing through categories on my webpage, or even back to homepage, the URL switches back to http://69.195.124.167/~jurajbor/about-us/ etc..
It doesn’t preserve the original domain name.

  • You might try clearing your cache (or using a browser you do not normally use for working on your site). Otherwise, you may need to talk to bluehost about that. As everything is set correctly from our end.
