change from blog site to Web site
-
Hi, I just set up a new site, after finally finding a site name I was happy with, but accidentally created it as a blog site, rather than a website, and as I’m unlikely to add constant dated updates, I really wanted a websit only.
However, I’m concerned that if I delete the blogsite name, and try to reopen as a website, the original name will become unavailable, and I’ll end up with something like mywebsite123456789, which is no good to me, so how can I make the change from blog to website whilst still retaining the same original site name? – is this something the wordpress admin team can arrange for me?
Many thanks,

Hi there!
You don’t have to delete and restart to turn your blog into a website! (And you’re correct that you won’t be able to reuse the same address if you delete it.)
Basically, you can create static pages and set the layout of your site according to that of a website as the main difference between a blog and a website is how your site is presented to the visitors.
I suggest getting started with our five steps for building a website on WordPress.com.
