Change my domain name in WordPress

    I registered my domain (ex. ‘mywebsite.org’) with GoDaddy. Then, I went out to WordPress and created my web site. The website in WordPress iscurrently is named ‘(mywebsite).wordpress.com’. I would like to have it be (mywebsite).org. Am I able to do so without paying extra?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    In order to use your domain hosted elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change the domain nameservers at your domain host, and point them over to WordPress.com. Yes, you will at least need to purchase the personal plan in order to map your domain. Information can be found here: http://wordpress.com/pricing

    Our nameservers are:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    Then, you’ll need to purchase the mapping subscription upgrade so that you can map your domain over to your WordPress.com site.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your quick reply. The instructions are very helpful and I appreciate the time you took to send them to me. I have an additional set of questions. Somewhere during my research to answer my own question I thought I saw a plan option for $13.99 per year that would provide me the ability to map my domain. Is there such a plan and would I be able to get this, or is the least expensive option the $2.99 per month “Personal” plan.

    Correct – you can no longer register or map a domain individually with WordPress.com for $13 a year. Moving forward, domain subscriptions can be purchased as a part of one of our many plans here. This recent domains with plans only update was made as we continue to work diligently to provide the best WordPress.com experience for both users who choose to purchase a plan as well as those who choose the free plan.
