Change nameserver
-
Hi there,
I made a blog on WordPress.com, but earlier I already bought the domain name at Hostnet for 1 year. (company in the Netherlands). Now the blog had the url http://www.touteslavie.wordpress.com, but I want it to be http://www.touteslavie.com.
I have asked Hostnet and I have my website now in WordPress.org, but it has less possibilities and I am not tha technic, so they told me it is possible to set the domain name touteslavie.com through touteslavie.wordpress.com but I had to contact you to change the nameserver. Maybe I can change the domainname after a year to WordPress, so I pay you for the domain name, but for now I hope you can help me witch the change of the nameserver.
Can you please help me?
With kind regards,

Hi Raphaëlle,
If you own the domain name touteslavie.com and you want your blog at http://touteslavie.wordpress.com/ to use that domain name instead, you can do that by mapping your custom domain to your WordPress.com blog with this guide: Map an Existing Domain
However, your domain registrar (Hostnet) will have to help you change the name servers for the domain, since that’s where the domain is registered. These are the name servers you’ll need to use to point your domain to WordPress.com:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Also, you’ll need to keep your domain registered there as long as you want to keep using it, since WordPress.com isn’t able to accept incoming domain transfers. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
