change of email

  Hey! I think when I first signed up for WordPress it was under my university email (about 8 years ago). It’s not letting me switch the email over because I no longer have access to my old email. Any advice?

  Hi Lily,

  I assume you’re speaking of another account, correct? The lillywest10 account you’re using to post here is not associated with a university email address, and never was from what I can see.

  What is the URL of the site, or username of the account, that you’re trying to access?

  To change the email for any WordPress.com username account, you must first be logged into that account. No access to the email itself is needed, as we only send a confirmation email to the new address you specify. So as long as you know the password for the account, you should be able to log in and update the email.

  If you don’t know the password any more, so you need to do a password reset, but you don’t have access to the right email to do that, you’ll need to verify your ownership some other way before we can give you access to the account. Please see here for the available options to do that:
