Change of email address linked to account and site

    i want to change the email address linked to this account and site. When I tried to change to a brand new email address, a link was sent to the new email address and asked for confirmation. HOwever when I tried to confirm the link, it prompted me to sign up for wordpress since that is a new address and can’t be logged in. After signing up, I can no longer change my email address to the desired one since it has been used. What should I do? I want to change my account and my site to this email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Hi,

    It sounds like something went wrong, as you shouldn’t have been prompted to create a new account.
    You’ll want to change the email on the new account to a throw-away one. That way, you’ll free it up to use here. Then, you can delete the newly created account.

    Hi, I have already deleted the new account I created on WordPress and could no more login with (email visible only to moderators and staff). But I am still unable to change my site email address to (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Please help! Or could you just do the change from your end? I want to retain my site and everything in it. I merely wanted to change the admin email from (email visible only to moderators and staff) to (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Please resolve this! Thank you!

    Hi there,

    When you close an account (as you seem to have done with the account tanengsiewchristina) there is a 30 day grace period where you are able to reactivate the account. Because of this, the email address associated with that account is not “freed up” to be used with another account for 30 days.

    Based on what I can see that account was closed approx 26 days ago, so in a few more days you will be able to use that email address for this account.

    If you need to do it sooner than that please let us know as it will require reactivating your old account (something only you can do by responding to the email we sent you when you closed the account) and then change the email address on that account once it is recovered… which is the other way to “free up” the email address for use with another account.
