Change Post ID

Hi. I realized that my post ID for new posts are in the ten thousands, which I feel that is odd for my site, since it only recently broke 200 posts. I would like to rectify it.
I would like to inquire if that is possible, and what should I do to accomplish it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Of what site are you speaking? http://upgradeordie.wordpress.com/ only has one published post and one page.

Post IDs are assigned automatically as new content on your site is created. There is no way to manually change or reset post IDs on WordPress.com site, but there’s also no need. The ID is simply a unique identifier for the content in the site database, and it doesn’t matter if your post IDs are currently in the teens or in the tens of thousands.

It is for my mysvgc.wordpress.com site.

It is just very annoying for someone w/ OCD to stare at an out of numerical order post ID when managing posts.

  • Hi there,

As @kokkieh already said this is how post IDs work on WordPress.com and we cannot change them. However, this is an internal thing and your site’s visitors are not able to view those IDs.
