Change server
-
I created a WordPress blog called “Let’s Get Wired!” for a class at Florida State University, and it is currently on the FSU server at: http://5916socialmedia.cci.fsu.edu/~cfb08c. I’ve graduated from FSU, but I still want to continue the blog. I don’t know how long the FSU server will maintain the blog, and I would rather not have to recreate it from scratch, especially since the theme I chose (Responsive) is no longer available. Can I just switch from FSU to WordPress on the web? How?

Go to that blog’s dashboard Tools page and hit Export. Be sure to export everything. Then on your WordPress.com blog’s dashboard, go to Tools and hit Import.
The theme will NOT import, though. On a WordPress.com blog you can only use the themes on our dashboard; no others will work.

Thanks! This worked really well. One thing I noticed, though, in changing to the “Contempt” theme, the tabs at the top of the pages don’t display drop down menus (tabs are the parent pages only). Is there a way I can include drop downs?
Thanks, again…
