change (wordpress) domain name from abc.com to xyz.com?

    I changed my photography business name from abc.com to xyz.com. – abc.com is the original paid upgrade wordpress.com site. How do I simply not only change my blog title but also change my specific domain name? I cannot figure it out, and I am NOT very computer-expert-oriented. (Please break it down to simple terms and directions, if you can help). Thanks!!

    Do I have to buy a brand new domain name (xyz.com) and start over? Is it not possible to just change the original abc.com wordpress site domain to xyz.com? Someone, please help!!! I am close to abandoning my domain altogether because it seems way too complicated for my anyway….but this is my one last ditch attempt to restart this and get it going…..thanks in advance!

    It’s redirecting properly for me. I am in Canada and domain mapping takes time. We have no control over when all those sites all over the world flush their DNS caches.

    Patience Grasshopper – most of the support is provided by your fellow bloggers who are unpaid volunteers.

    You should be able to just add a second domain xyz.com mapped to your existing site. there should be no need to change your WordPress.COM address.

    You will need to register the new domain name first then you should be able to map it to your present blog. Not done much so if you get in trouble you might want to ask the staff for help, they are a bit over worked at this time but quite helpful.

    This is also stated in the support documentation.

    When a new domain is purchased or when name servers are updated, it can take some time for the change to take full effect (up to 72 hours, but normally much less). http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain
