Changing a blog URl ending?
-
I’ve just bought a domain registration for my blog, but I don’t like the .me ending and would like to change it to .com or .net. How do I do that? My blog URL is feathersofthefirebird.me at the moment.
Thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Sophie,
When you register a custom domain, you’re purchasing the right to use that exact domain name for your blog. The only way to change to a different domain name is to Register a New Domain with the name and ending you want.
I checked and the domain feathersofthefirebird.com is already taken, but the domain feathersofthefirebird.net is still free if you want to register that one. You can do that from the Domains page.
If you’re sure you don’t want the domain feathersofthefirebird.me that you already bought, you can cancel that domain from your My Upgrades page. (Please make sure you don’t want it at all, though. Once a domain is cancelled you give up ownership of it, and there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to register it again later.)
I can also help you cancel the domain feathersofthefirebird.me, if you’d like. Just let me know!

Thanks very much for your helpful reply. I’ve now registered firebirdfeathers.com, which works well for me, and I’ve also applied for a cancellation of the .me one, which I’m quite sure I don’t want.
Great resolution of my problem, thank you. -
You’re welcome! I can confirm that the .me domain was cancelled successfully and we’ve issued a full refund for that, and your new domain is working. (It can sometimes take 1-2 weeks for refunds to appear on your bank statement, in case you don’t see it right away.)
Just let me know if I can do anything more to help. :)
