Changing blog from private to hidden

    Wanting to keep some privacy for my blog, but change it from private to hidden, so that friends will be able to view it without having to sign up for WordPress account. When I do change the setting, the blog still shows up in Google. Is there any way to change this so that search engines won’t index it, or is it impossible because it has already been indexed when private?
