Changing domain

  Hi,
  I have an issue with a domain. I have a website using Weebly but i want to transfer to WordPress. I want to use the same domain but i want my weebly website to stay live until i finish migrating to wordpress. What sould i do?

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  You certainly can get your site set up here before switching your domain over!

  When you sign up for a new site, we give you a free subdomain (*.wordpress.com) that you can use to start building your new site.

  Here’s a guide that will help you migrate your site to WordPress.com:

  Note that you will need a paid plan at the time you want to map or transfer your domain to the site. You can compare the different plan levels here:

  Hi,

  Thanks for your reply. What if I would like to start the website from scratch on WordPress but use my Weebly domain when I’m finished setting it up? I’m sorry but I haven’t understood how it works.

  You can start your new site from https://wordpress.com/start

  You’ll be given a free subdomain to build your site under, and you won’t need to direct your domain from Weebly to it until you’re ready.

  When the time comes, we have two options:

  Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/
