Changing email address to one used on recently deleted account

  I wish to change my email address to one that has been used on a recently deleted account. I cannot get into the deleted account because it says it is unable to send me an activation or login link to that email address (no doubt because the account has been deleted), but I can’t change my email address to that one because it apparently has been used! What can I do?

  Hi there,

  Our close my account support page states:

  Please note that during this 30 day window your account data persists, which means that you cannot use your account email address to sign up for a new WordPress.com account. Once the 30 days are up and your account is purged, your email will be freed to use with a new account.

  Close Your Account

  So, it would be quicker to request a restoration of your account, update the email to that account to a throw away email which frees up the email you want to use, and then re-delete the account if you still do not have use for it.

  Let me know how you would like to proceed. I would need to send an email connected to the closed account to verify ownership.
