Changing email to an address that used to be linked to a WordPress account.

  Hi, I recently closed a few old WordPress accounts I hade made over the years and forgotten about. I thought once I had done this I could make a new account using one of these old emails addresses seeing as they no longer have accounts tied to them. Seeing as this wasn’t the case I set up a new account using an email that hadn’t been used on WordPress in the past.

  I would like to switch this account over to another email address that used to have an account linked to it but no longer does. Every time I try to do this it says the email is still in use, despite the account being closed.

  Anyone know that to do or if there is anyway of contacting WordPress directly?

  Hi there,

  Closing a WordPress.com account is not immediate, and data connected to the account, like the email address, is only completely deleted after 30 days. This is to give you the opportunity to still reverse the process should you change your mind.

  If you want the email address connected to a particular account to become available for use with a different account immediately, please reply to the account closure email we sent you when you closed that account to request this.
