Changing from GoDaddy Domain upon expiration to WP Domain

    We have a domain name registered with GoDaddy that will expire very soon. We have this domain name directed to our blog. When the domain expires with GoDaddy, we wish to continue to use it within WordPress by acquiring it via WP. What is the best way to do this without the blog being down too long?

    Hi there!

    Domain expiration is a complicated and lengthy process that takes around 80 days to complete. Once a domain expires, there’s no guarantee that it will be released back to the open market. It could get purchased in auction or on back order before that point, or the registrar may decide to just not release it.

    Your best option if you’d like to continue using your domain is to keep it registered with your current registrar.
