changing from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. What happen with the url?
-
Hi,
First time using this service. Sorry for my lack of knowledge.
I am using right now a wordpress.com blog (delacruzimages.wordpress.com) but I am planing to start a new one with wordpress.org. I would like to keep this url name for the new blog, Is that possible?. Do I have to change the name within the new Blog?.
What options do I have?
I will also import my old post into the new blog. I’ve seen many threads on this topic so I will check them first.
Thank you very much for your support.
Best regards,
Raúl.

Hi there, it’s not possible to have a WordPress.com address for a self-hosted site – self-hosted sites require your own domain name. If you’d like your WordPress.com address to redirect to your new self-hosted site automatically, you can purchase a Site Redirect so that any visitors to delacruzimages.wordpress.com will reach your new self-hosted site and you won’t lose any traffic. You can also request that we transfer any subscribers and followers to your new self-hosted site if you install the Jetpack plugin.
Just let me know if you have any other questions.
