Changing or Deleting a Site
-
Hello I wanted to change my site address, but I accidentally created a new username first instead of changing the site address. I want to delete the old site’s username and address but I am worried that it will delete my new username entirely. What will happen if I click ‘delete’?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Don’t delete anything. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Also subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. Hi @seelaiwrites, if you delete the old site, that name will be deactivated and you won’t be able to use it again. However it won’t affect your username.

Hi @supernovia, thank you for your response. I wanted to delete my old username (larghuney.wordpress.com), but my old blog’s posts are all associated with this old username. So I can go ahead and delete the old site/username, but since it won’t affect my username, will my old posts still be available on the dashboard?
I wanted to save the old blog posts so that they appear on the new site (seelaiwrites.wordpress.com), but if that’s not possible, please let me know that too. Thanks.

Okay, yeah ideally it’s best to use the rename tool *before* creating the new site, but since the new site already exists, you can use an export and import to get your content over. Also I recommend redirecting the old site rather than deleting it or making it private.
Once you’ve finished the import, you’ll want to make sure you don’t have links or images pointing back to the old site. Let us know if you need help!
